My BLOG

I've decided that I don't know for sure what I am, except that

I am an ex-democrat

I've seen the light.  I repent the error of my ways, the foolishness of my youth.  I used to think that we could throw money at the world's social ills (like a good democrat thinks), but now I know better--20 or more year of welfare has proven this does not work.  What works is work... hard work.  So, get off the pitty pot and get a job, all you welfare loafers,  Quit moaning and expecting me and others who do work to support you with our tax dollars.  Earn your own damn money the hard way, just like I do.  Get a job!

Politics.  A ripe topic for conversation around the Sunday Dinner table.  Put about 6 people around the table, bring up a political topic, and see how many opinions you'll here.  Probably lots more than 6, or however many people are there.  Well, it's an election year, so you should pay attention to what's going on in the world.  I know, I've looked at my pay stub recently.  The government gets too goddamned much of my paycheck, and I get almost (but not quite) absolutely no benefit from it.  OK, I'm mad as hell and I'm not gonna take it anymore.  Throw the bums out!

If you haven't read "Why Government Doesn't Work," by Harry Browne, you owe it to yourself (well, technically, if you buy it at amazon.com, you'll owe them--but you know what I mean). I know that every time I get my paycheck, one helluva lot of it is taken from me by the government.  I have no say in it.  I have little say in how it is spent.  And I'm not happy about it. For nearly 30 years I've been voting, and mostly voting democrat.  There, I said it.  I admit it. I feel like I've taken one of the steps of AA now.  Yes, I was a democrat.  I voted for democrats most of the time.  And what has it got me? How has it helped me? What have they done for me?

Nothing.... abso-f#@king-lutely nothing!

And so, I'm mad as hell. I don't want to pay for welfare anymore, because it doesn't work, it just invites people to watch Jerry Springer all day.  I don't want to pay for a huge military because I don't want to solve everyone else's problems when we can't even solve our own.  I've been paying for Social Security for years. Now, I'll have to retire at a later age, and won't get even a few cents on the dollar for what I've put into it....if I'm lucky.  Since the government "invented" Medicare, health costs have spiraled uncontrollably.  I could go on and on, but to what good.  So I am going to use my vote this year to send a message to the overpaid, fat, lazy, selfish slobs in Washington that

I am mad as hell!

Whew!  Well, I don't feel a helluva lot better, because I know that , come next paycheck, the government will suck a huge handful of my money out of me....robbery without a gun!

Enough!  There are a lot of great places for information on the Net, and here are some of my favorites:

  • World's Smallest Political Quiz - Take this quiz and see where you fit in to the political realm.  It's painless, short, sweet, and informative. Do it now!
  • The Libertarian Party - OK.  Years ago, my friend Cathy told me a bit about the Libertarian Party.  I think she even mentioned that she was a member.  I wish I had paid more attention.  But I have recently discovered that they say a lot of things that I really believe in.
  • Outright Libertarians - A web site for gay lesbian libertarians.  A small but growing group.
  • The Libertarian Party of Florida - Just our Florida Libertarian Party at work.  And, for the record, I think it took too damned long to send Elian back to Cuba, which is where his father wanted him in the first place!
  • The Onion - For a humorous look at current events, and a tongue-in-cheek view of the world, you have to check out The Onion.  Not specifically political, but definitely funny!
  • Not sure where you belong? Take  this Party Match Making Quiz to find out which political party best suits you. (This site may be slow to load, but it's worth the wait!)

Ok, so you're not interested in learning any more about what I think?  Well, here are some more "mainstream" links to what the rest of the world is saying about the candidates of the major political parties for this year 2004 election:

  • The G-Spot - Yes, my friend Greg has compiled some great links, photos, and other election trivia  for your 2004 election year entertainment. Take a look!

  • Neal Boortz - See "the rest of the story" and listen to Boortz on the radio.  Neal tells you the stories the major network avoid due to their liberal bias.

  • George "Dubbya" Bush - He has supporters all over the place, as this web site attests to.

  • sKerry Kerry even has a web site - another place you just HAVE TO visit.  Especially if you're one of the HAVE NOTS.  I'm sure Kerry  will promise you anything. Please try to stay awake during his next speech....he's so darned dynamic....but he does have great hair above those Botox eyes.
